Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

The Tony-Award winning show harks back to the era of suave 1950s and '60s caperfilms -- specifically, the 1963 David Niven/Marlon Brando vehicle "Bedtime Story," onwhich "Scoundrels" is based. Michael Caine played the slicker member of the anti-hero duo with perfect English ease, and Steve Martin was inspired as his gaucheAmerican counterpart in the 1988 Frank Oz film by the same name.

The Relevant Stage, San Pedro's Musical Theatre Company will unveil the Broadway smash, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at Warner Grand Theatre beginning June 11 for a limited engagement of 6 dates.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a Broadway musical about two con artists on the French Riviera. Lawrence is an older gentleman, seasoned, experienced, an expert at taking women's money and leaving them poorer, but smiling. Enter Freddy, a young American who's looking to make a bigger score. He starts out asking to learn from Lawrence, but after an argument, they make a bet over who can pull a scam on a new, young, beautiful tourist named Christine. The laughs never quit in this gaudy, bawdy, guilty pleasure full of fun and depravity, and that's just the way those dirty rotten scoundrels like it.
